Canoeing July 19, 2015

So, the adventure is nowhere near finished. The day was filled with many fun activities and of course, lots of shenanigans! Starting off the adventure with canoeing and ending with a drive to the tallest tower to watch the sunset. Clearly, there was excitement everywhere!

Like always, the day started out slow and gradually picked itself up. Out Sunday couldn't have gone any better. George Hill, an artist, came to visit our camp site to teach us a little something about drawing. I am not an artist and I'm nowhere remotely close to faking it. In fact, I'm actually horrible, but still, I participated and found that drawing is very relaxing.

It doesn't matter if you're drawing your feet or even a mountain. There's something about putting a pencil and paper together and letting your hand glide from one side to the other. After our drawings were coming to an end, we were to pack or things and head to the lake where we were going to canoe.

From the time we arrived to the lake, I was expecting a nice and calm ride. Sure there were a few rocky situations along the way but overall, nothing that threw us off. Things were going great, the sun was shining bright, rowing was just perfect!

My partner Monet and I were enjoying our time canoeing. We caught a few waves and worked together to make our canoe ride as go smoothly as possible. We saw a few people flip, spin in circles, and just having a hard time. We were just thankful it wasn't us.

Thinking that things were going to stay as great as they were, we were wrong. Another group was having a hard time from the start. Soon realizing we couldn't leave them to sink, we decided that the right thing to do was to help. Let me tell you, it was quite the struggle!

Suddenly, Monet and I went from being solo, to hauling another canoe. It was as if we forgot what we were doing! It became harder and harder to pull and row. Rocking back and forth hoping that we wouldn't fall into the water.

Yes, we panicked and got frustrated. It felt like we were staying in place spinning and turning and getting pushed into the weeds! It was quite aggravating! In fact, we were almost considering leaving our friends to suffer on their own, instead of going down with them. It was mainly my idea, but Monet and her good heart talked me out of doing so.

After getting out of that disastrous situation, we managed not to flip over, as well as save our other friends. That trip shortly ended and we were to head back to camp. As we were finishing up dinner, Warren Seyler stopped by to take us to the top of the tower to catch the sunset.

We rushed to grab our cameras and running shoes to leave as soon as possible! It was seriously a race against time. Once we arrived, the sunset was magnificent and the view was amazing. It was a great way to end our day and we couldn't be anymore thankful for having Warren around to show us how beautiful life can really be.
